I am delighted to be coaching tennis at Acorns and welcome bringing my Junior Tennis School, plus adult programme, to such a wonderful venue. My tennis started in Australia where I was one of Don Tregonning’s “Melbourne Boys” and played successfully in many tournaments. After coming to the UK I captained London University and took part in tournaments around the UK as a junior and adult. I then became a pro hitter based in Eastbourne for the tournaments. My coaching training has focused on the highly successful Spanish approach, and I have taken all levels of the RPT training up to international Director of Tennis. I hold LTA status as a coach, and also have the AATC (Australian) Elite Pro qualification. I have coached for the national Tennis for Free initiative, launched by Judy Murray, and was also chosen for Sky VIP coaching awards. I am US PTA qualified, as well as an instructor for the PTR Performance level of coaching.
Recently appointed UK Director for the AATC, I train coaches as well as performance one to one, and all levels of ability. My Junior Tennis School is now located at Acorns and will cater for tennis for tots ( age 4-5) as well as juniors from age 5 upwards. My tennis training and experience is enhanced by an MA and PhD in the process of learning, which I apply to my coaching approach at all ages. I lead a team of 5 well trained level 1 coaches who assist me in providing a positive, active environment in small group coaching and individual lessons.
Tennis is a fantastic game- for body, mind and spirit! It is great for mental health, aerobic activity, and for developing balance and coordination. A recent Sunday Times article showed that it is the top sport for adding years to your life! No other sport matches this.
